Dive into a captivating tale set against the backdrop of England and the Middle East, featuring a diverse cast of characters—well, not quite thousands, but certainly a good number! Join Sir Lionel, his son George (our hero), and their wealthy uncle as they navigate the complexities of love and fortune. The central narrative revolves around the union of two couples, overcoming their rocky paths, while the humorous antics of peripheral characters bring life to a fictional town and a journey through Egypt. Trollope takes delightful digressions to share his insights on religion, politics, and the quirks of British tourists. (Summary by Arnold Banner)
