Woman Who Went to Alaska

history, arts, books, society, culture · EN

Step back in time to 1899 and experience the rugged beauty of Alaska through the eyes of May Kellogg Sullivan. Unlike todays luxurious cruises that whisk travelers through breathtaking landscapes with ease, Sullivan embarked on a daring adventure that spanned 18 months and 12,000 miles. Instead of opulent dining and climate-controlled comfort, she faced the challenges of weeks spent aboard a steamer, followed by a two-week wait for the new railroad to traverse treacherous mountain passes. Her journey took her to rough mining camps, where the spirit of adventure and exploration thrived. This captivating travel narrative is a perfect companion for your Alaskan cruise or for cozy evenings at home, offering a vivid glimpse into a wild and untamed frontier.
