Life and Death of Mr. Badman

religion, spirituality, christianity · EN

In the seventeenth century, Puritan theologian John Bunyan penned The Life and Death of Mr. Badman as a companion to his more famous work, The Pilgrim’s Progress. While both serve as Christian allegories aimed at imparting moral and spiritual lessons, they take strikingly different approaches. The Pilgrim’s Progress follows a protagonist destined for heaven, showcasing a positive journey, whereas Mr. Badman’s fate is grim, leading him to hell. The narrative unfolds through an engaging dialogue between Mr. Wiseman, who recounts Mr. Badman’s misdeeds, and Mr. Attentive, who interjects with questions and reflections. Through Mr. Badmans story, Bunyan explores a range of sins, including lying, swearing, and Sabbath-breaking. This LibriVox production, narrated in a dialogue format by two talented readers and divided into digestible sections, offers a captivating exploration of virtue and vice. - Summary by David Purdy Preface and narration, voiced by KevinS; Mr. Attentive, voiced by David P
