This captivating recording features two poignant narratives from the Civil War era. The first is a compelling account by Cora Mitchel, who, in 1861, was a young girl from a Unionist family forced to flee their home in South Georgia for the safety of Rhode Island. Written in 1916, Coras story reveals the trials and tribulations faced during this tumultuous time. The second narrative comes from Charlotte St. Julien Ravenel of South Carolina, offering a contemporary journal entry written in the final months of the Civil War in 1865. Join us as we delve into these personal tales of resilience and courage, narrated by David Wales.
