Letters From America

arts, books, history · EN

Join us on a captivating journey as we explore the letters of Rupert Brooke, who embarked on a remarkable adventure across the United States, Canada, and the South Seas in May 1913. Written for the Westminster Gazette, the first thirteen chapters of his travels offer an intimate glimpse into his experiences and reflections. While Brooke intended to expand on these writings, the letters stand strong in their own right, with only minor corrections made for clarity. For those intrigued by Brookes literary style, it might be best to save Henry Jamess affectionate yet perplexing preface for later (as noted by Christopher Morley in Modern Essays) and dive straight into the heart of these letters.
