Objects of Desire

arts, society, culture, design · EN

What is that one possession that means the most to you, not just because of its beauty, quality, quirkiness or sentimental value but because of what it tells you about yourself, its maker and the time and place from which it emerged? On each episode of “Object of Desire,” 1stDibs’ new podcast, we talk with an influential tastemaker, style setter or cultural observer about that one remarkable thing in their life — whether it’s design, art, jewelry or fashion — that they especially love. Their stories are moving, inspirational, educational and sometimes even a bit embarrassing. Regardless, they transcend the biographical to tell us about the culture at large and shed light on the power of things to provide each of us with a sense of self, a sense of home and a meaningful connection to the world around us.
