Six Months In Mexico

Join Nellie Bly on her captivating journey through Mexico in 1885, where she chronicles the lives of the impoverished and the political turmoil under a deeply corrupt government. Originally a series of articles for the Pittsburgh Dispatch, Blys work shines a light on the struggles of the marginalized, while also embodying the spirit of a pioneering investigative journalist—one who fought for womens empowerment in a society that often overlooked their voices. However, her insights are sometimes clouded by the limited perspective of a 19th-century outsider. Her travels came to an unexpected halt when her exposé on the mistreatment of a fellow journalist drew the ire of President Porfirio Diazs regime. Blys compelling narratives were later compiled into a book in 1888, offering readers a window into a tumultuous period in Mexican history. (Summary by James K.
