In On Piety, Father Jean Guibert of the Society of St. Sulpice, who once served as the superior of the Catholic Institute of Paris, presents a thought-provoking exploration of the practice of piety. Written for both those who embrace piety and those who may scoff at it, this concise book, which carries an imprimatur, highlights the numerous benefits of cultivating a pious life. As mentioned in the preface, engaging in piety brings individuals closer to God, purifies and uplifts the heart, enlightens the mind, strengthens the will, and ignites a fervent love for God and neighbors alike. In the first part (Chapters 1-11), Father Guibert delves into the essence of piety, while the second part (Chapters 12-18) outlines its profound fruits. The companion volume, On the Exercises of Piety, further illustrates various ways to practice this enriching virtue. (Summary by dave7)
