Creative Evolution (French LÉvolution créatrice), penned by the renowned French philosopher Henri Bergson in 1907, offers a thought-provoking alternative to Darwins theory of evolution. It introduces the concept of élan vital, a vital impetus that embodies humanitys inherent creative impulse. The book gained significant popularity in the early 20th century, preceding the formulation of the Neodarwinian synthesis. In addition to evolutionary theory, Bergson delves into the nature of time, a theme he explored in his earlier works, influencing modernist thinkers and writers like Marcel Proust. He distinguishes between the subjective experience of duration and the objective measurement of clock time, asserting that true understanding emerges through creative intuition rather than intellect. A fascinating read for those intrigued by philosophy, creativity, and the essence of time. - Summary by Wikipedia This show includes AI-generated content.
