Dive into the extraordinary life of Joseph of Copertino (1603 – 1663), an Italian Conventual Franciscan friar celebrated as a Christian mystic and saint. Known for his remarkable simplicity and a perceived lack of intelligence, Joseph’s life was anything but ordinary. He was blessed with miraculous levitation and profound ecstatic visions, which began in his childhood and continued to awe those around him. Initially rejected by the Conventual Franciscan friars due to his limited education, Joseph humbly devoted himself to working in their stables. His unwavering devotion and simplicity eventually earned him a place in their Order, leading to his ordination as a Catholic priest in 1625. This captivating biography, written in 1753 during his beatification process and based on the Acta Sanctorum and official documentation, offers a glimpse into the life of a man who would be canonized in 1767 and become the Patron of Students and those who fly.
