history, news, politics, government · EN

Delve into the intriguing legacy of Charles Pinckney, a prominent member of the South Carolina legislature and a key figure in the Constitutional Convention of 1787. Often overshadowed by James Madison, some have even suggested that Pinckney might be the true architect of the U.S. Constitution. This compelling exploration unravels the fate of the draft that Pinckney submitted to the Convention in May of that pivotal year, scrutinizing how it might have differed from the final adopted version. The narrative probes the enigmatic questions surrounding why Pinckneys proposal was seemingly neglected or perhaps even deliberately destroyed. Authored by Charles C. Nott, who served as Chief Justice of the United States Court of Claims under President Lincoln, this book invites you to uncover the mysteries behind one of Americas foundational documents.
