The Victorian Era A Journey Through 1848-1880

history, news, politics, society, culture · EN

In Volume II of this engaging historical narrative, we delve into the tumultuous year of 1848, marked by the Chartist movements fight for manhood suffrage and the emergence of Young Ireland. Experience the excitement of the Great Exhibition in Hyde Park in 1851, where Queen Victoria described the day as a moment when a little rain fell just as we started, but before we came near the Crystal Palace the sun shone and gleamed upon the gigantic edifice, upon which the flags of all nations were floating. However, the optimism for a peaceful new era soon fades amidst the grim realities of the Crimean War, where the valiant efforts of the Light Brigade could not overshadow the failures of leadership and the logistical chaos that plagued the British forces.
