The Pretty and the Gritty with Jen Splane NP

arts, fashion, beauty, health, fitness, medicine · EN

The Pretty is what you want: the jawline back, the glow, the face that matches how you feel. The Gritty is everything nobody puts in the before-and-after: what's actually happening under your skin as you age, what the studies say works, what it costs, and how often it goes sideways. Jen Splane is a nurse practitioner in Rothesay, New Brunswick. She runs a medical aesthetics clinic, prescribes hormone therapy in primary care, trains other injectors, and has read more papers on collagen than anyone should. Every second Monday she tells you what she'd do, what she wouldn't buy, and why, with the study on the table. Occasionally a guest. Always a source. Never a sales pitch; if she wouldn't do it to her own face, she'll tell you. This is education, not medical advice, and the person to ask about your face is still your own clinician. She works with Galderma and Xcite, and says so out loud whenever it matters. Every episode at welle.skin/podcast.
