Rise and Fall of the Confederate Government, Volume 1

history, news, politics, government · EN

In The Rise and Fall of the Confederate Government (1881), Jefferson Davis, the former President of the Confederate States of America, provides a detailed history of the Confederacy, positioning it as both a historical account and a defense of its principles. Davis meticulously explores the Confederate constitution and government while recounting significant military campaigns. His arguments regarding the constitutional and moral rationale for secession resonate powerfully with both his contemporaries and modern scholars. Through an extensive examination of constitutional texts and the insights of notable American political figures, Davis aims to substantiate his claim that secession was not only reasonable but justified. This project features the second half of Volume 1 (of 2). (Intro modified from Wikipedia) Proof-listening done by Nadya Gaganova and Lucretia B. This show includes AI-generated content.
