Gold Coast Arcana

fiction · EN

California’s Gold Coast has always kept secrets — threaded through the fog banks, the canyon winds, and the old adobe walls. The Chumash knew it. The Californios knew it. The missionaries knew it. Something lingers in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. Something that doesn’t stay buried. It’s the 1980s, and three people are paying attention. Twins Dea and Jax Morrow — one reads the cards, the other engages in occult practices. And Dr. Simon DeLeon, a professor of anthropology and religion whose clairvoyant abilities make it impossible to study the unexplained from a safe distance. Together, they’ll chase hauntings, unravel folklore that turns out to be more fact than fiction, and confront the strange history of a coastline that has never been what it seems. The stories in this podcast are inspired by local legends, documented hauntings, and the rich anthropological record of California’s central coast. The folklore is rooted in real places. Links to the mythology, hauntings, history,
