The Movie Scout

Movies have the power to transport you into another world. The SCOUT Report exists to help you find the ones worth the trip to the theater. Hosted by filmmaker Matthew Phelps, The SCOUT Report scores every film through the SCOUT framework — Story, Characters, Objective, Universe, and Technique — five categories rooted in the craft of intentional storytelling. Every episode delivers a filmmaker's perspective, deep research, and one honest verdict. Whether you're a movie lover, a filmmaker, or just looking for your next great watch — we scout every film and help you decide if you should chart a course to the movies.
