A Collection of Letters is an enchanting epistolary short story collection crafted by a young Jane Austen at just fourteen years old. Long before she captured the literary world with her celebrated novels in her thirties, Austen was already a passionate writer, beginning her journey at the age of twelve with various epistolary works. This collection, part of her early writings compiled in three notebooks known as the Juvenilia, showcases five distinct letters penned by women of high society in Great Britain, each presenting a self-contained narrative filled with wit and humor. Despite its brevity, A Collection of Letters is unified by a delightful tone, reflecting the social nuances of Austens time. Dedicated to her cousin Jane Cooper, whose life bore ironic parallels to one of the letters, this collection offers a captivating glimpse into Austens formative years as a writer.
