Curious Quest

Embark on a whimsical journey where friendship and honesty prevail over the lure of wealth. Meet the charming protagonist, Ernest Bliss—a name that cleverly hints at the storys heart. As a disenchanted young millionaire, Ernest embarks on a transformative adventure that not only reignites his passion for life but also leads him to true love. This enchanting tale, published in 1919, reflects some attitudes of its time, including a few antisemitic stereotypes. The story gained fame through the 1936 film adaptation, The Amazing Quest of Ernest Bliss, featuring Cary Grant and Mary Brian. Written by E. Phillips Oppenheim (1866-1946), a prolific author from London, this novel is just one of his many works, which include over one hundred novels and short stories, some penned under the pseudonym Anthony Partridge. Dont miss his insightful 1941 autobiography, The Pool of Memory. (Summary by Adrian Praetzellis)
