Join us as we strip away misconceptions and explore the complex, often misunderstood world of social nudity. From ancient Greek gymnasiums to modern body positivity movements, Beyond the Fig Leaf examines naturism through the lenses of psychology, history, environmentalism, and culture. Each episode tackles a different facet of this lifestyle—investigating how seeing diverse, real bodies can transform self-esteem, tracing the forgotten histories of nude movements from Soviet Russia to Meiji Japan, and addressing the stigma that keeps many naturists living "on eggshells" in a clothed world. Whether you're curious about the gender gap in nude recreation, the intersection of faith and the flesh, or why social nudity might just be good for the planet, this podcast offers thoughtful, research-backed conversations that challenge assumptions and invite you to see the human body—and humanity itself—in a new light.
