Discover the poignant story of the lepers of Molokai and the extraordinary Roman Catholic missionary, Father Damien. Known as Jozef De Veuster, this Belgian priest devoted sixteen years of his life to ministering to those suffering from Hansens disease, who were exiled to a desolate island in Hawaii. Amid the despair of their isolation, Father Damien brought hope and compassion, tending to their physical, spiritual, and emotional needs. Tragically, his selfless dedication led him to contract the very disease he sought to alleviate, ultimately succumbing to it himself. This is a tale of love, sacrifice, and the indomitable human spirit in the face of unimaginable suffering. (Adapted from Wikipedia)
