In Euripides haunting play, we delve into the harrowing aftermath of Troys fall, where the citys women grapple with the loss of their husbands and the looming threat of enslavement. The narrative opens with a divine council between Athena and Poseidon, who plot revenge against the Greek forces for their complicity in Ajax the Lessers heinous act of dragging Cassandra from Athenas sanctuary. The unfolding tragedy reveals the depths of suffering endured by the Trojan women, as they confront further calamities while the Greeks coldly distribute their fates. This poignant translation by Gilbert Murray, published in 1915, brings to life the profound grief and resilience of these women.
