Experience the haunting tale of Troades (or The Trojan Women), a powerful Latin verse drama by Seneca the Younger, inspired by Euripides tragedy. The once-majestic city of Troy has fallen, its grand palaces reduced to smoldering ruins. As the heroic defenders lie slain or scattered, the victorious Greeks gather the spoils, including the Trojan women, who face an uncertain fate as they await their new masters. Just as the Greeks prepare to depart, the ghost of Achilles rises, demanding the sacrifice of Polyxena, while Calchas insists on the death of young Astyanax to ensure Greeces safety from future wars. Thus, the long-suffering Trojan captives must endure yet another layer of tragedy. Join us for a gripping exploration of loss, sacrifice, and the human spirit, narrated by Alan Mapstone.
