Join Lieutenant Frederick Schwatka, a renowned adventurer and explorer, as he embarks on a thrilling expedition by mule train into the rugged Sierra Madre mountains of Mexico, home to some of the worlds richest silver mining regions. With a keen eye for detail, Schwatka paints vibrant and sometimes humorous portraits of the unique flora and fauna that populate this stark landscape. He delves into the fascinating cliff and cave dwellings, both inhabited and abandoned, while engaging with the diverse cultures he encounters along the way. Among his most striking observations are the incredible running abilities of the Rarámuri (Tarahumari) Indians of Barranca del Cobre—famed for their endurance in the breathtaking Copper Canyon of Chihuahua State. Schwatkas witty narrative ensures that listeners are not just informed but also entertained, making this journey through the Sierra Madre both enlightening and delightful.
