Dive into the depths of early Christian apologetics with Against Celsus, a seminal work by the Church Father Origen of Alexandria, composed around 248 AD. This influential text stands as a robust defense against the sharp critiques of Celsus, a pagan philosopher who launched a fierce attack on Christianity in his treatise The True Word. Celsus challenged the rationality of Christian beliefs, labeled Christians as uneducated and deluded, and accused Jesus of utilizing black magic for his miracles while claiming he merely plagiarized Plato. He warned that the rise of Christianity threatened to erode traditional values and divert people from established religious practices. Join us as we explore Origens thoughtful responses to these profound challenges. - Summary by Wikipedia This show includes AI-generated content.
