Dive into Chip Delanys captivating second novel, following his debut, The Jewels of Aptor (1962). Published by Ace Books in 1963, this tale unfolds in the 35th Century, where the remnants of a nuclear war inhabit a decaying kingdom by the coastline and an adjacent island. The story centers on a young man, the son of a privileged merchant, who becomes a working-class hero amid the turmoil caused by a faltering royal family. With the help of a disillusioned royal, he embarks on a quest to reclaim his honor. This early masterpiece was later reimagined as Out of The Dead City, part of Delanys Towers Trilogy.
