In Jane Austens Persuasion, we meet Anne Elliot, a once vibrant and thoughtful 19-year-old who accepted a marriage proposal from the charming but impoverished naval officer, Frederick Wentworth. Despite his ambition and promise, Annes snobbish father, Sir Walter, and her self-absorbed sister Elizabeth disapprove of the match, leading Anne to break her engagement under the influence of her friend, Lady Russell. Now 27 and still single, Annes world is turned upside down when she crosses paths with Wentworth again, who has become a wealthy captain after his triumphs in the Napoleonic wars. Though he publicly claims hes open to new romantic prospects, he secretly harbors resentment towards Anne for rejecting him. Will they find their way back to each other, or is their love forever lost? (Summary by Wikipedia)
