Tom Cruise’s ‘Digger’ Digs Its Own Grave: A Miserly $8m Opening—His Worst in Nearly Twenty Years.

news, entertainment · EN

Tom Cruise, for the better part of two decades the gold standard of the sure-fire cinematic event, has suffered a reverse of uncommon brutality. His latest vehicle, Digger, opened to a mere $8 million—an exiguous sum that, C WEB understands, constitutes his feeblest debut in nearly twenty years. The figure is not merely disappointing; it is symbolically charged. Cruise’s name has long been a byword for the sort of opening weekend that sends studio executives into transports of delight. To see it attached to so modest a sum is to witness a reversal that borders on the unthinkable.
