Domestic violence isn’t just a statistic, and it doesn't only happen somewhere else. It happens behind the closed doors of our own neighborhoods, right here in Irvine. In Screwed, we pull back the curtain on the invisible realities of domestic abuse, examining how history, power dynamics, and societal stereotypes shape our understanding of the truth. Through the lens of real, local cases and from the tragic murder of Brandi Mares to the high-stakes SWAT standoff involving Sergio Garcia, we contrast the lived experiences of victims against the hardships of legal framework. How does our justice system actually handle domestic violence? Does it protect the vulnerable, or does it merely react to the tragedy? Join us as we explore the importance of real justice, dissect the realities of the legal system, and confront the unsettling truth about our own community. Because when the system fails, we are all left vulnerable.
