Influenced by the teachings of various religions—including Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism—Troward sought to understand the principles of cause and effect with clarity and precision. His work, particularly the Edinburgh Lectures on Mental Science, has been lauded by notable figures like philosopher William James, who called it the ablest statement of philosophy he had encountered.
