Louisbourg The Great Fortress Chronicles

history, science, social, society, culture · EN

Louisbourg was more than just a stronghold; it was a critical link in the network of waterside posts connecting France to America across the Atlantic, the St. Lawrence, the Great Lakes, and the Mississippi. This volume delves into the unique narrative of Louisbourg, exploring its significance amidst the larger context of colonial power struggles. While the broader connections to the Acadians and the Conquest have been explored in other volumes of the Chronicles of Canada, this installment focuses on the individual story of Louisbourg, highlighting its pivotal role in shaping the course of history from 1720 to 1760.
